Thought leadership, like any other business discipline, is being changed daily by Web 2.0 tools and tactics. While traditional platforms remain (writing books, presentations at various meetings and conferences, work in associations and the like), if a thought leader from the analog world does not migrate and manage his/her platform in the digital world, they will be replaced, and this will occur sooner rather than later.

Sooner or later, all thought leaders are replaced – but there is no need to speed that process up if it remains within your control.

As a recognized thought leader in my niche (B2G, business-to-government marketing), it became apparent to me in early 2007 that the digital world, especially the evolving Web 2.0 tools, had become mandatory if I was to retain my position in my market niche.
