AMTOWER OFF-CENTER OBSERVATIONS

Item: GIT Rockin, the fundraiser rock and roll event for the USO, sponsored by 1105, is rapidly approaching – October 18. GIT out there and support this event ! Anything you can do to support the USO and our troops – do it!! See the link below in Events.

Item: And speaking of 1105, apparently they have purchased GovSec from National Trade Productions. A few weeks back I said I had heard rumors that they were buying an event company. Well, I was wrong – they bought the event without the company.

Item: This Friday at 2 PM tune in to my interview with the folks from FISSEA – Mark Harris of NIST and Louis Numkin of FISSEA. The Federal information Security Educators Association has been around for years doing great behind the scenes work. The annual FISSEA conference is coming up and I would like it to be a BIG HIT! Joining me as co-host for this will be David Powell, COO of the Federal Business Council.

Item: The newsletter will be on a very brief hiatus as I am attending two multi-day events over the next few weeks. Consequently there may be only one November issue.

Item: A very cool event at NSF on October 23 – and it will be s sell-out soon: Facilitating Collaboration In The Virtual And Built Environments. Long url so you may have to cut and paste!  http://colab.cim3.net/cgi-in/wiki.pl?ExpeditionWorkshop/Facilitating_Collaboration_In_The_Virtual_And_Built_Environments_2007_10_23

Item: If you sell products to government (as in commodity products, including IT), the place to be this November 5-6 is The Sixth Annual Amtower Summit on Selling Products to the Government. This is the only event focused exclusively on selling products to the government and we offer information you can act on immediately. We have a great lineup of speakers and we are in a great new Hilton hotel, the BWI Hilton, 5 minutes from Baltimore-Washington International airport. Join us for good food, great speakers, excellent networking and more. This is a limited seating event, so register NOW. See Events below for the link.

Item: From my friends at Market Connections - all of their stuff is good. Market Connections has a new white paper, “Unleashing the Power of Customer Satisfaction Surveys.”  It covers numerous aspects of customer and contract satisfaction surveys, including why you should do them, what type is right for your organization, and advice for converting the findings into process and performance improvements.  You can download the white paper for free at http://marketconnectionsinc.com/satisfactionpaper/.  Do so by October 31, and you’ll also be entered into a drawing for a new iPhone®.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY: KODAK

Just a quick note on the passing of an Olympic sponsor. Kodak (no, the company did not fold) has pulled out of being an Olympic sponsor after the next Olympics. They are the longest standing sponsor, going back to advertisements placed in the programs in 1896, when the modern Olympics started.

We all have to re-think our advertising on occasion.
